By 2030, Uber plans to have a fleet of entirely EVs. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi has stated that drivers who do not have electric vehicles will be banned from the Uber platform.

Khosrowshahi told CBS reporter Ben Tracy, \”We have a target to be fully electric in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.”

With its Comfort Electric service, Uber is working to make it simpler for its customers to request rides in all-electric vehicles. As of late, Uber has expanded this service beyond the Golden State to 24 US cities and Vancouver, Canada cities.

If you’re looking for an alternative to Uber Green, Comfort Electric sets itself apart by only hosting fully electric vehicles on the ride-sharing app. Though the Comfort Electric option is currently more expensive than a regular Uber ride, Uber promises that the price will decrease as more EV drivers join the platform.

Khosrowshahi said, “The more electric cars we have in a particular market, the more the waiting time comes down and the more the pricing can be reduced.”

Currently, Uber has about 25,000 EVs in its network, but by next year, that number is expected to double to 50,000.

A total of over 5.7 million gallons of gas was saved in 2022 thanks to \”EV drivers active on the Uber platform,” the company claims.

Uber has committed $800 million to help drivers transition to fully electric vehicles by 2025, as part of its goal to become a zero-emissions platform in the United States and Canada by 2030.

The move coincides with a California law that calls for the widespread adoption of electric ride-hailing services by 2030.

If you\’d rather use Lyft than Uber, you should know that the company plans to convert all of its vehicles to EVs by 2030, too.
